The only part of our site which uses Astra components is our homepage carousel. I certainly would not use flash again given that the current landscape which has changed very significantly in the intervening time.

That said I'm currently build some tooling to evaluate our carousels performance from our end users perspective. From our developers workstations on avg I believe the preload for the carousel itself is aprox .5-1 sec in parrallel to other site content. which is not too bad. Of course that time does not include the actual slide content. Once we've had a change to get some user data collected I'll post again.

The Astra components I've used are of good quality, though somewhat wheighty.

Re: Why I’m developing with Yahoo Astra

is there any performance issue ?

Re: ACS Strategic Plan 2009 website launched

Hi Anna,

I agree completely as I type my reply on an iPad. Please consider starting a discussion in the ACS Network where ACS staff can discuss mobile websites in an official capacity. If you post there I think you'll be surprised by how seriously your input will be taken. Be sure to tell ACS what you want do do while your online. Ex: renew membership, register for a meeting etc.

You dont have to be a member to join the network. http://www.acs.org/network

Mobile web is an issue I and my colllegues are very excited about. See you on the network!

If you're just looking for a mobile version of the strategic plan here's the link: http://strategy.acs.org/mobile...

Re: ACS Strategic Plan 2009 website launched

Not at this time.

Re: ACS Strategic Plan 2009 website launched

is there a sort of internet bookmark for Mobile Webistes?'.~
